John & Joe had a great morning of fishing. They started out in the dark and finished fishing around 10am. They said they caught so many fish that their arms were getting tired. LOL The key to this bite was that the thread fin shad has started their spawn. This is a little early, but the water temp is just right. They were catching fish with every cast at different times and locations. The whites, hybrids and a few striped bass were feeding heavily. They were casting paddle tail swimbaits, tater shads and Kastmasters. Later in the morning they found fish closer to the bottom and were jigging either Binks spoons or Tater Shads. They boated and released way more fish than they kept. I was so tired yesterday that I decided I needed to get a few more hours of sleep, so I missed out on this great bite. The good thing is that the shad will continue their spawn for the next several weeks in different locations on the lake. Keep your eyes open when you’re traveling on the lake for white water. That will be fish feeding on shad on the surface, top water action. This can happen anywhere from the shoreline out to the middle of the lake.

Happy fishing all and enjoy fishing Norfork Lake in the Arkansas Ozarks!
