I am finally back on the lake, but July is a difficult month for me to be on the lake too often. I will be out there on occasion. Once I found the fish this morning at around 6AM the bite was quite good for a short period of time. I landed a really nice striper then a smaller one right off the bat. Ater these two there were still fish, but they just looked and swam away. I was using a white trash Tater Shad. I was back in a smallish creek where the water was around 70 feet deep inside of a channel swing. I moved around the creek a little following the channel and found them again a couple of hundred yards away. They were not biting great, so I switched to a Binks spoon green/white and ended up landing another nice fish. These fish were 40 to 80 feet deep with most of them toward the bottom. I caught my three and keep the two in the photo. I headed back to the resort as my workday was about to begin. The second photo is of Stan and Jacob (grandpa/grandkid) who had a great time fishing last week. Both of them got to land their first ever striped bass. Jacob’s smile says it all. Congrats guys!
The lake surface temp was about 86 degrees this morning on the main lake and creeks. The water level is slowly falling and sits at 559.95 ft msl. There is a thermocline formed around 25+ feet deep. The water is clear on the main lake and slightly stained in the creeks.
